Antiques
in Bungay
Bungay
is renowned for the wonderful array of shops, selling antiques,
artefacts, curios and arts. The majority of these shops can be
found in Earsham Street and Broad Street with lovely ideas for
that extra special gift.
In
addition there are also art galleries and a workshop where a local
woodcarver can be seen at work.
Every
year Bungay holds an Antique Street Fair which involves dealers
from all over the country selling from stalls in Earsham Street,
which is closed to traffic. To book a stall contact John Pestell, telephone number is 01986 782464 or email willowdykes.barn@virgin.net
Several
thousand people flock to the town for this popular event, which
we will cover in more detail nearer the time. |

Matthew
Higham Antiques have over twenty years experience of collecting
and importing rare and interesting European pine and hardwood
furniture. Each month around 250 pieces including armoires, food-cupboards,
dressers, bookcases, benches, tables, boxes, and chest of drawers
arrive at their UK warehouse. Here, a team of specialised cabinet-makers
and painters work to customise or paint items to your requirements.
Recently
Matthew Higham Antiques has opened a new showroom of antique Chinese
furniture. The provinces of Northern China have proved a rich
source of fascinating forms - the ancestors of European furniture
- as well as beautiful woodgrains and patinas.
Because
we appreciate that each piece is unique and will enjoy a special
place in any home our experts will tailor finish, modify furniture
and develop paint colours to suit a wide range of interiors, from
modern urban spaces to the classic home.
